Gain extra entries
You can get 5 extra entries (with a possible total of 10 entries) if you:
- visit the Future Student Lounge
- apply to VIU in the Future Student Lounge at VIU Fest
- take part in a pop-up class
Tuition credit must be used for a Fall 2026 start date, and you must qualify for the program you are applying to.
The tuition credit contest is open 11 am to 4 pm, Saturday, October 18.
The winner will be drawn on Wednesday, October 22.
VIU Fest Tuition Credit Contest Rules
The Contest
The VIU Fest Tuition Credit Contest (the “Contest”) shall be hosted by Vancouver Island University (“VIU”) pursuant to the following rules.
Contest Period
The Contest shall commence at 11:00 a.m. PST on October 18, 2025, and shall close at 4:00 pm PST on October 18, 2025. (the “Contest Period”).
Eligible Entrants
To be eligible, entrants must:
be Canadian citizens or have permanent residency;
be an individual who attended a VIU Fest and participated in a Pop-Up Classroom Session, visited the Future Student Lounge, applied to VIU at the event or visited a BrainWaves or Science Mall booth
not be an employee nor the family member of an employee of VIU;
Entry and Odds
No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest.
To enter the Contest, entrants must follow the directions to enter online at https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/KYizAGI, complete a contest entry form manuallyor submit an application for admission to VIU during the Contest Period. Entrants will be required to provide their first name, last name and email address. VIU is not responsible for any change to your email address. Note that incomplete or improperly completed entry forms will be disqualified.
All entries become the property of VIU.
Entry material/data not satisfying the entry requirements or that have been tampered with or altered are void. In the event it is determined that an entrant has entered in a fashion not sanctioned by these Contest Rules, the entrant and all their entries will be disqualified.
Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries.
By entering the Contest, all entrants:
agree that, should they win the Contest, VIU may post on VIU’s website or otherwise advertise their name and likeness.
represent and warrant that they meet all eligibility requirements of the Contest as set out in Section 3.1 above.
Contest Draw and Winners
One (1) random draw will be conducted by VIU representatives from all received entries from Applicants. The Grand Prize Draws shall occur at 3:45 pm PST in Nanaimo, BC, on Wednesday, October 22 or at some other time reasonably close thereto.
VIU will attempt to contact the winner using the contact information provided on the entries. If the Winner does not come claim their prize in 24 hours such Winner will be disqualified and VIU will select a new Winner in accordance with these Contest Rules.
To collect the prize, the Winner must:
Submit an application to Vancouver Island University, be admitted to a program and be registered in courses for the Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027 semesters.
present a valid, current piece of government-issued photo identification;
correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question
read, agree to, and sign a Declaration of Eligibility and Release of Liability form provided by VIU (the “Release”) after being declared the Winner.
Failure to complete the requirements of Section 5.3 above within the time specified or failure to meet the eligibility requirements of this Contest shall result in forfeit of the prize by the Winner at which time VIU will select another Winner in accordance with these Contest Rules. If the Winner is under the age of majority, their parent or legal guardian will also be required to sign the Release.
Prize
The winner will receive the following prizes:
- Tuition credit of up to $7500 for the 2026-27 academic year at Vancouver Island University. Credit can be used for academic and trades programs
Tuition credit can be transferred from one immediate family member to another. The prize winner will have to provide documentation showing this direct relationship between family members. The prizes cannot be redeemed for cash and cannot be substituted except at the sole discretion of VIU.
No Liability
VIU will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, inaccurate, or destroyed entries, and all such entries are void. VIU will not be liable for any failure of the Contest Website, will not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, printing errors, lost, delayed, or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer lines or networks, computer equipment, software, or any combination thereof. Entries are subject to verification by VIU. VIU, its employees, directors, officers, affiliates, agents, and representatives are not liable for
late, lost, delayed, not received, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, stolen, fraudulent or illegible entries (all of which entries shall be automatically void and ineligible);
failure to receive entries due to transmission failures, busy signals, traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, servers, access providers, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or recipient, or
any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this contest and breaches of privacy due to interference by third party computer "hackers".
Amending Contest
VIU reserves the right to terminate or suspend this Contest or to amend the Contest Rules at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned due to any reason, VIU reserves the right to terminate the Contest and conduct a random draw from all previously received eligible entries.
General Rules
By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to:
be bound by these Contest Rules and the decisions of VIU; and
release and hold harmless VIU, and its Board of Governors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all liabilities, losses, claims, demands, costs and expenses (including lawyer’s fees and litigation expenses on a solicitor and own client basis) whatsoever to which any of them may become subject arising from any actions or omissions by the entrant.
The decisions of VIU in relation to this Contest will be final and binding on all entrants.
Each prize claim is subject to verification by VIU and/or its designated representatives. Entries made with multiple addresses, under multiple identities, or through the use of any device or artifice to enter multiple times or entries that are in excess of the permitted number of entries during the Contest period are automatically void. All Contest entries obtained through unauthorized sources, or which are incomplete, forged, irregular, or fraudulent in any way or otherwise not in compliance with these Contest Rules are automatically void.
VIU reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, to be acting in violation of these Contest Rules, or to be acting in an unfair or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person.
The personal information you provide to enter the Contest is collected pursuant to section 26 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, B.C. and will be used by VIU for the administration of the Contest and related purposes. Personal information will only be accessible by authorized VIU employees and representatives, or as otherwise permitted by law. VIU will not disclose personal information to an outside third party unless permitted by law.

The Contest is governed by the laws of British Columbia and all applicable laws of Canada, as well as these Contest Rules.
