What's happening at RockVIU 2025:
July 30 - Virtual pre-arrival session: Get set to come to VIU
Come get your questions answered and meet your orientation team! From 8:30 to 9:30 am PST.
August 26 – Virtual info sessions
Start your journey with key information to help you transition smoothly to VIU. All sessions will be recorded and shared later.
- How to access your student services: 9 to 10 am
- How to get involved at VIU: 11 am to 12 pm
- University survival guide: Setting up your student accounts and more: 12 to 1 pm
- Intro to your VIU Students' Union: 2 to 3 pm
August 27 – Campus Adventures scavenger hunt
A gamified campus scavenger hunt. Explore campus, complete challenges and win prizes. You will receive an email with your scheduled time slot closer to the date.
August 28 – The ultimate RockVIU experience
- Welcome for Indigenous students: 9 to 10 am
- Faculty Block Party Socials – Meet your faculty, classmates and deans: 10 am to 12 pm
- Connect Fair and Community Corner – Enjoy games, food and snacks while discovering student services, meeting community members and getting the chance to Dunk Your Dean: 12 to 4 pm
August 29 – Pick and play Friday and themed movie night
Choose your own adventure with info sessions designed for different student needs. Sessions include:
- Indigenous land acknowledgements and protocol
- Wellness walk
- Canadian culture and intro to Cultural Connections
- Cheers to choices: responsible alcohol and drug use
- Immigration Advising
To close out the week, join us at the Malaspina Theatre for a themed movie night. We'll be showing Shrek - costumes encouraged! Prize for the best dressed.

The VIU Games is an annual event held at Vancouver Island University where teams of 8-10 members are formed from students, alumni, faculty, and staff in an integrated competition of spirit and sporting events. Teams compete to win the prestigious Chassels Cup! Register as a team or as an individual. Registrations will open soon
