High School Counsellors

Student success is our mission

You want your students to succeed after high school graduation. We get it. We want that too. At VIU, we're on a mission to make sure everyone has access to an education. We'll help your students get where they want to go in life. And we'll make sure they get the most out of their time with us.
With a range of programs, from trades to academics, we offer something for everyone.

High achieving students have an opportunity to stand out from the crowd when they earn their bachelor's degree here. VIU undergrads get to take part in research that might be available only to graduates at other schools.

What about students who need extra supports? Through Accessibility Services students with documented disabilities can get accommodations.  Students who don’t have the prerequisites they need can get free supports through the Pathways to Post-secondary program. Pathways offers free supports along every step of a student’s learning journey.

Learn about student success at VIU

On February 6, join us for a day of learning at an event for high school counsellors and teachers. We'll talk about the supports we offer students transitioning from high school. The event will cover the VIU experience, but we'll share information that will help students who plan to attend other universities.

Services for Aboriginal Students (SAS) Advisors

SAS Advisors provide culturally appropriate services to Indigenous students. This includes advising on:

  • education and career exploration
  • referrals to counselling
  • support for financial aid, scholarships and funding options
  • support for daycare and housing.

Students can connect with advisors in a one-on-one meeting, by phone or by email.

Connect with a Recruiter

We encourage any student who wants to learn about VIU to connect with a recruiter. We also offer custom campus tours to school groups. We’re offering independent school visits once again and can also offer sessions online.
