In-person and virtual options

Registration for the in-person event is closed

Discovery Day is at capacity, so we are no longer accepting bookings for the in-person event. You can still attend virtually, and your students can sign up for Discovery Night on February 22.

Discovery Night is a chance for high school students to explore VIU on their own or with friends. The evening includes a scavenger hunt and sessions where they can experience the hands-on opportunities they’ll have in VIU programs. Discovery night also features sessions for parents and mature students.

Discovery Day is a popular event. To make sure you learn about it early next year, contact connect@viu.ca to sign up for Discovery Day emails.

Discovery Day details

As your students explore their options for life after high school graduation, we want to invite you to bring them to Discovery Day at VIU. Whether they are eager to go to university or are unsure what they want to do after graduation, Discovery Day will spark excitement and curiosity about the post-secondary experience.  And it will help them clarify where they want to go in life.

What to expect

Students can experience the campus and get a feel for what life will be like at university. They’ll learn about academic and trades programs at VIU and get a taste of our community of support.

They can check out the Student Support Market and learn about the wide variety of supports and services that VIU offers its students. Each faculty will host an open house so that students can connect with faculty, find out more about our programs, as well as the additional opportunities available to students at VIU such as research and study abroad options.

Students can attend an Indigenous performance by the Khowutzun Singers and Dancers, and the Fire and Ice demonstration. International will be hosting an open house and students can pop by the Library to participate in the photo scavenger hunt.

There will be games and prizes and an atmosphere of optimism that’s sure to get them planning for a future that includes post-secondary education.

You and your students can attend in-person or virtually.

Teachers' lounge

There will be a teachers’ lounge where you can unwind and mingle with colleagues while you enjoy complimentary morning treats and lunch prepared by VIU Food Services.
