Look around you - from the apps on your phone to the poster that led you here today, behind the scenes - there's a graphic designer who merged words and images to make these things work so well. Join faculty and meet students to learn more about this creative field and to see for yourself how design is everywhere.

Participate in an interactive and informative session about the world of writing, editing, and publishing with Professor Joy Gugeler. Learn about VIU's Portal and Incline magazines, the Portfolio reading series, internships, workshops, faculty genre expertise, work-ops, and opportunities to create, produce, and perform.

Join Media Studies Chair Robin Davies in this mini showcase of engaging and exemplary student work. Explore the projects and ask questions about this hands-on program.

Drop in to check out info booths and displays including the Media Studies "World Map Project." This interactive exhibit features audio recordings of VIU students and pinpoints their hometowns. Discovery Day visitors can click around the map and hear VIU voices from around the world!

Find out about VIU's English and Creative Writing Departments from a team of professors who will highlight course offerings while celebrating creativity! Enjoy live music by English professors, and student readers from CREW. Original student writing, passages from course texts, and snippets from literary works will entertain and inspire.

Explore documents and artefacts from the past with faculty members Katharine Rollwagen and Kenneth Duggan. From medieval manuscripts to letters Canadian soldiers wrote home during the Second World War (collected in VIU's online archive called CLIP, the Canadian Letters and Images Project), this workshop will show you how we use primary sources to make history.
