Inspired by what it means to me to matter here, the painting, just as its title suggests, is made of representations of different races and cultures. To be accepted, respected, treated well, and be given an equal and deserved opportunity despite my race, the culture I identify with, ethnicity, religion and more, is what "Matter Here" means to me. Because every single race and culture is not represented in the painting, there is the opportunity for you to include yourself in the painting via the mirrors located on different spots on the work.
Just as these different races and cultures, including your mirror inclusion, can beautifully exist together and collectively in this artwork, is the same way the real world can be.
