Campus Tours are held Monday at 10 am or 1 pm and Friday at 1 pm. Tours last approximately one hour and are led by one of our fantastic student ambassadors.

The Big Six Visit
Just passing through and only have a short time to see campus? We would still love to have you visit! One of our Student Ambassadors will lead you through the heart of campus to catch the highlights. Visit the top six areas that most students encounter at some point in their time with us. By the end of your tour you will have had the opportunity to have your questions answered and get a good sense of what life as a VIU student would be like. (Approximate duration: 45mins)
Residence Visit
Already been to campus but want to learn more about residence? Come visit our apartment, townhouse or traditional style residence buildings to see if this is the place for you. VIU Residences offer a first-year residence guarantee for students entering from high school and provide exceptional academic and social supports, the keys to student success. (Approximate duration: 45mins)
The Standard Campus Visit
Discover the beauty of Vancouver Island University's Nanaimo campus located at the base of Mt. Benson.  Walking tours are held Fridays at 1:00pm. The tour is led by one of our fantastic Student Ambassadors who will showcase the highlights of our amazing campus. The time allows for a brief introduction and to get your questions answered. Be sure to dress for the weather and don’t forget some comfortable walking shoes! (Approximate duration: 1.5hrs)
Accessibility Visit
Vancouver Island University has the ability to offer tours to students with accessibility and/or mobility challenges. Have one of our Student Ambassadors tour you around campus all the while considering your mobility and/or accessibility needs. (Approximate duration: 2hrs)
VIU 4 U!
Want to know what it’s like to be a VIU student? What better way to find out than being one for a day! Along with a tour of campus and the student residences, you will have an opportunity to sit down with a faculty member or the program chair and get your specific program questions answered. (Approximate duration: 2hrs depending on length and scheduling of class session).

NOTE:  Must provide minimum one week advance notice. VIU 4 U tours are not available in August.

Group Visit Options

General Group Visit
Are you interested in bringing a group of high school students, elementary students or others to visit campus? These visits are planned based on the needs and time requirements of the group. In order to provide the best possible visit experience, large groups are normally split into smaller groups all led by a Student Ambassador.  (Approximate duration: varied)
Aboriginal Group Visit
Vancouver Island University's Nanaimo Campus is located on the traditional lands of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. VIU supports the active participation of Aboriginal people and is committed to working with and learning from the Aboriginal communities of this region and beyond to improve educational opportunities for Aboriginal learners. This tour will take students on a visit of the Shq’apthut – a Gathering Place and Services for Aboriginal Students with options to visit with the Aboriginal Student Transition Advisor, and include other points of interest including program specific areas. (Approximate duration: varied)
